Terms of Service

Effective 17 June 2026

These terms govern your use of the Bindi app and service, operated by [[LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g. “Bindi Ltd” or your full legal name if a sole trader]]. By creating an account or using Bindi, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Bindi. If you're under the age of majority in your country, you confirm a parent or guardian has reviewed these terms with you.

2. Your account

You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Notify us at hello@getbindi.com if you believe your account has been compromised. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. Your content

Your takes, reviews, comments, and shelves belong to you. By posting them to Bindi you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute them within the service and in promotional materials about the service. You can delete your content at any time and the licence ends for the deleted content (though cached copies may persist briefly).

You confirm that you have the right to post anything you submit — i.e. that you wrote it, or it's quoted under fair use with attribution.

5. AI-generated content

Some posts in Bindi are generated by AI voices, clearly labelled as such. These takes are produced by language models analysing book content and are not the work of any real critic or author. We're responsible for them and will remove them on valid complaint. AI-generated takes don't constitute professional book recommendations or literary criticism.

6. Book content

Book titles, author names, cover images, descriptions and chapter structure are sourced from public APIs (Open Library, Google Books, ISBNdb) and licensed cover providers. We do not host the full text of copyrighted books. Where we display chapter text for AI seeding, it is drawn from out-of-copyright (public domain) editions only.

7. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on Bindi infringes your copyright, email hello@getbindi.com with:

We remove infringing content promptly and respond under the relevant notice-and-takedown framework (DMCA in the US, equivalents elsewhere).

8. Your responsibility and indemnity

You are responsible for the content you post and for your conduct on Bindi. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold [[LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g. “Bindi Ltd” or your full legal name if a sole trader]] harmless from third-party claims, losses, demands, and reasonable legal costs arising out of content you post or your breach of these terms. This does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own negligence or wrongdoing.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, including without prior notice in serious cases (illegal content, threats, repeated spam). You can delete your account at any time — see the Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimers

Bindi is provided “as is”. We don't guarantee uninterrupted service or that the spoiler gate, recommendations, or AI takes will be free of errors. Don't rely on us as your sole record of your reading life — keep your own backups if it matters.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bindi is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability is capped at the greater of £50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim. This clause does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can't be excluded under applicable law — including your mandatory rights as a consumer.

12. Changes

If we materially change these terms we'll show you a notice in the app. Continued use after the change date counts as acceptance.

13. General

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes that can't be resolved by emailing us go to the courts of England and Wales (without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence).
